George Polymerou is a Psychologist and a Family Therapy Psychotherapist. He graduated from the School of Psychology, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and pursued his postgraduate studies in the field of Child and Adolescent Counselling at the University of Nottingham, UK. He completed his Systemic and Family Psychotherapy Training at the Institute of Systemic Thinking and Psychotherapy in Thessaloniki, Greece. Mr Polymerou received a specialized supervision training in Open Dialogue and Dialogue Approaches in Finland, under the guidance of Jaakko Seikkula and his team, in collaboration with the University of Jyväskylä.
Mr Polymerou enriched his experience through work in the field with local and international NGOs, supporting unaccompanied minors and refugee men's groups in Greece and the Middle East. His previous employment as a school-based Psychologist in the primary education system of the public sector, offered him an insightful experience for the challenges of integration that children in the classroom are faced with and the need for empathic support.
Mr Polymerou is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Institute of Systemic Thinking and Psychotherapy (Thessaloniki). He is a member of the Multidisciplinary Team of the Hellenic Children's Village in Fyliro, a residential Child Protection Unit. Since 2019, he has established a private psychotherapy clinic. Mr Polymerou is a member of the “ProsOpsi” Institute Psychotherapy Team.
